Residential Power Rate

Residential Power Rate Information

This rate shall apply only to electric service to a single-family dwelling (including its appurtenances if served through the same meter), where the major use of electricity is for domestic purposes such as lighting, household appliances, and the personal comfort and convenience of those residing therein.  For more information on this rate, the full 2020 rate schedule can be downloaded here which is still valid as there were no increases by MU since.  Click Forecast to view the estimated 2022 forecast as well as the previous 12 months of residential rate.

The base energy rate changes with each season as defined below:

  • Summer: June, July, August, September
  • Transition: April, May, October, November
  • Winter: December, January, February, March
Please note:  At this time MU does not have time of use rates.  The seasons defined above are for the base rate, which does not include all charges or credits.  If you are trying to program an energy management device or smart thermostat, please note that the rate changes monthly based on fuel but there is no difference to the residential rate between ON-peak and OFF-peak.  For instance in the summer, a kWh of electricity costs the same at 3 PM as it does at 3 am.  It is recommended to use an average rate in these devices. You can find the yearly forecast and actual on the (Forecast) link above.
